Ah, Simon. It is so lovely to see you again. Jean-Loup, it is you! A welcome awaits us at Imsouane. These two lovelies are amongst the many people we have come to know here. They are the first we see. Half way through our trip and we've come to settle for a while and take in this laid back place with it's gaggle of locals and tourists. We feel like it's coming home. I know, not quite home but a place in our hearts that's best left to the second half of our trip as to come here sooner, we might never have gotten out !
Imsouane
The drive up from Ait Melloull took us past Agadir, Taghazout and on through the beautiful hills of Argan trees that run down to the sea. A modern Morocco is left behind for a country delight. The roads are slow yet interesting !! Lorry loads are a mystery here and following one can be a challenge.
We know these roads and with Jon in the lead we slowly descend the 'new' road into our seaside destination.
The countryside here is so comforting. Welcoming even. The 'new' road is demanding for anyone's brakes, straight down without care for an old 608 and it's 6.5 tonnes! So it's into the lowest gear we have and 2 miles an hour, slowly, slowly. Least pressure on the brake shoes and lots of time to enjoy the arrival.
Arriving is a special event ! Not to be rushed. In the blink of an eye, it will be time to leave ! so here and now boys and girls. There is no length in a moment.
Huggette is here too and Fifi. Caught together in the 'Bay' watching the late evening surf session from the jetty. It's a right surfy scene here. Even famous names have been and are delighting the locals with their presence. So and so is here ! And last week, did you see you know who? The Beautiful people are as lucky as us and I'm sure they are beautiful inside as well as outside. All just flowers shining bright with some glowing more than others. Locals we know are so sweet when they see us, so pleased that we have come back. Wishing us great surfing and good times in this corner of Moroccan magic. Welcome they say, with kisses and handshakes. Bright eyes and warm hearts. Phew, it's great to be back.
Jamie and Jessica with dog Louis, chat to Simon about all things camping. They are themselves and for that we are happy. Humour is center and plans for the future are as always top of the list with the boss.
The new camping area for boat and flat rental has become a fine addition to the campsite and is homely and attractive. Even got a small fountain as well as dining area and fire pit. A fine place to take a holiday.
When we left last year, the wall was new and unattractive. As the small photo shows, that has been rectified and now stands proud to the entrance of the new area. A pleasure to walk through for a surf or a shop. Jamie's ideas are coming into being. Now will the visitors come? The troubles in the world have already had their impact on tourism this winter. Morocco has not escaped fear.
We reserve the right to be fear - less and have enjoyed warmth and welcome from everyone and everywhere we have travelled this winter.
This is Jean-Loup being happy ! Like the rest of us, it's great to be here. Even I am lost in a little world of fantasy, talking to myself! Mmm, come to think of it, I do that all the time.
So lets go to the beach and take a dip, why not? It's as beautiful as ever here and we're quite alone. We don't mind company it's just nobody else thinks it's warm enough to swim. And they're right, it is a bit parky. Sort of Wales in the late Spring ? Early summer perhaps. Maybe Summer!
With sun and blue skies, it is rather tempting. So we do ! Like two children, we splash and play in the water as do the dogs play on the beach.
We all like a bit of fun.
Some of us more than others !
It's good to be back.
